Waiting For The Daylight

European Blues Award-winning guitarist Erja Lyytinen returns with her new studio album, "Waiting For The Daylight." "The Queen of the Slide Guitar" began working on her new album during the lockdown. "I started writing songs during the pandemic and poured a lot of emotion into them, which I've had over the past two years. I feel the new material is quite unique and different from the previous songs," said Erja. "Waiting For The Daylight" was recorded amidst the artist's hectic touring schedule, during a time when Lyytinen performed across the continent and made her debut in countries as far away as Algeria. “In some ways, this was probably my easiest album. I did a lot of pre-production before we went into the studio. However, I took my time, focused on working on the overdubs in my own studio, and spent many hours there. It was very hard, but a great time, and I have to say I've never been as satisfied with the results as I am now,” Lyytinen explains. Regarding this project, Lyytinen explains that she wanted to make a “band album.” “My drummer, Iiro Laitinen, and my bassist, Tatu Back, do a fantastic job. We rehearsed the songs a lot before going into the studio, which you can really hear on the tracks. My longtime keyboardist, Harri Taittonen, joined us on the album, which was a real treat,” she says. “I wanted to make a guitar album, with lots of guitar solos and interesting guitar parts, and of course, a lot of slide guitar. In some of the songs, I played over twenty different guitar tracks, and the whole album sounds huge.”
