The Joscho Stephan / Helmut Eisel Quartet came about purely by chance because the Joscho Stephan Trio from Mönchengladbach was invited to represent the Saarland in the Jazz series in the Minister Gardens in Berlin. Without further ado, Helmut Eisel was added as a quota Saarlander - a single concert was planned. But the lively mix of gypsy swing and klezmer inspired the audience so much that three new engagements spontaneously arose from this first concert.
With Bei dir war es immer so schön, the quartet is now releasing their second album together. Joscho Stephan, the Mozart of Gypsy Swing, and Helmut Eisel with his speaking clarinet form a furious band with Günter Stephan (rhythm guitar) and Volker Kamp (double bass) that tells stories from life.
