The good old record sounds more vibrant than ever. The demand is astonishing, even for experts. The figures for records sold are increasing just as surprisingly as the number of record players. It’s a real boom. But how to improve the sound? One way is to use a new, better cable between the tonearm and the phono amplifier. The Phono-2405 AIR is a cable created to deliver top sound. What sets it apart is an absolutely unique air insulation, called the Air Helix. We have developed a special clip for this technology. It separates the two cable bundles, keeps them apart, and virtually embeds them in air. Using a large number of these clips, it is possible to route earth and signal extremely stably over longer distances. Why the effort? With this approach it is possible to pass on the sensitive signals without slowing them down - the result is fast and high-resolution sound. The Super Speed waveguides are threaded by hand and the clips are fitted with great care in the company's own factory. After this, the resulting Air Helix is also shielded and fitted with the PE network jacket by hand. Finally, the rhodium-plated connectors are fitted and cable functionality is tested. Because it's all about the most important, smallest signals: There is nowhere in the audio world where smaller currents flow that need to be passed on perfectly. The signal level of an MM or MC system is extremely sensitive, at just a few thousandths of a volt. In addition to this, the systems have an inductive character. In combination with the cable capacitance, they form what is known as an oscillating circuit, which favors specific frequencies. If these frequencies are unfavorable due to excessively high capacitance, this has a major effect on the harmony of the sound. With the Digital-2405 AIR Pure Silver, the digital member of the AIR family is now also available as a pure silver cable. The dimensions, structure and arrangement of the conductors correspond to the respective copper versions. As with the LS-4005 AIR Pure Silver, LS-2405 AIR Pure Silver and LS-1205 Pure Silver, the signal conductors have been optimized. AIR technology is a milestone in our more than 40-year company history and is causing a sensation in the hi-fi industry worldwide. The approach itself sounds relatively banal: The physically induced losses must be minimized in order to transmit the original music signal as authentically and neutrally as possible. And, thanks to the AIR technology, loss-free transmission is closer than ever before. It leads to significantly better sound reproduction, which is not only subjectively audible but also objectively measurable. The insulation (or dielectric) of the AIR cables is practically perfect thanks to the air insulation, and hardly affects the sound at all. The structure, dimensions and arrangement of the conductors are optimized, and approach the limits of what is physically possible. Adding another highlight to this perfect audiophile foundation, we then focused on the conductor material of the cables. Copper in the appropriate purity is already a very good conductor. A superconductor, where electrical resistance is zero, would be perfect, of course. Unfortunately, superconducting materials require temperatures of at least -70 degrees. Die Air-Helix-Konstruktion des Referenz USB-2405 AIR ist absolut einzigartig. Um eine nahezu perfekte Luftisolation zu erreichen, haben wir einen speziellen Clip entwickelt. Im Innern des Kabels bildet eine Vielzahl dieser Clips ein tragendes Gerüst, welches die Signalleiter helixförmig frei in der Luft hält und in definiertem Abstand durch die hochdichte Abschirmung führt. Die Flexibilität dieser Konstruktion wird durch zwei Stege erreicht, die nicht nur die Clips zusammenhalten, sondern sie auch auf dem exakten Abstand zueinander fixieren. Im eigentlichen Sinne ist „Digital“ nur in der Mathematik in Form des dualen Zahlensystems vorhanden. In der technischen Welt existieren keine reinen digitalen Signale. Zur Detektion von Nullen und Einsen werden elektrische Spannungsgrenzen und Zeitfenster definiert. Der Sprung von einer Null zu einer Eins oder umgekehrt erfordert immer eine gewisse Zeit, in der der Signalpegel alle Zwischenwerte, beispielsweise von 0 Volt bis 5 Volt, durchläuft. Kapazitive Lasten, dielektrische Verluste, Rauschen und elektromagnetische Störungen, die durch Kabel verursacht werden, manipulieren diesen Übergang zusätzlich. Das resultiert in zeitlichen Verschiebungen, dem sogenannten Jitter-Effekt, wodurch eine präzise Rekonstruktion des Audiosignals erschwert wird bzw. nahezu unmöglich ist. Many manufacturers only use silver-plated conductors, which over time can seem, “bright”, “metallic” and even, “annoying”. We, on the other hand, use pure silver, which has a far more neutral sound. Due to the higher drift speed of the electrons, our pure silver cable delivers a more penetrating and sumptuous sound performance, across all frequency ranges. On the other hand of course, silver is about one hundred times more expensive than copper. Neuer 180° USB-Stecker: USB-Stecker können bekanntlich nur in einer Richtung eingesteckt werden. Unter der Abschirmung befindet sich die innovative Air-Helix-Konstruktion, wobei Luft und der Abstand der Leiter als Isolatoren fungieren, die dielektrische Verluste verhindern und kapazitive Lasten erheblich reduzieren. Insgesamt erleichtert dies dem Digital-Analog-Wandler (DAC) die Arbeit und perfektioniert die Rekonstruktion des Audiosignals.
