1957 war für Elvis Presley ein Jahr der Konsolidierung. Am 6. Januar hatte er seinen dritten und letzten Auftritt bei der Ed Sullivan Show, bei der er den Gospelsong „Peace in the Valley“ sang, der den Weg für einen neuen Trend in Elvis‘ Musik ebnete. 1957 war auch das Jahr, in dem er Graceland kaufte, in seinem ersten Film „Loving You“ auftrat und mit der Arbeit an seinem zweiten Film „King Creole“ begann. Er gab auch viele Konzerte und nahm mehrere Studiosessions auf. Diese LP präsentiert alle seine Rock & Roll-Studioaufnahmen von 1957. Die Kerngruppe, die ihn bei all diesen Aufnahmen unterstützt, besteht aus Scotty Moore an der Gitarre, Bill Black am Bass und D. J. Fontana am Schlagzeug, dazu The Jordanaires als Backgroundsänger und Pianist Dudley Moore bei den meisten Stücken.
