We are continuing the successful product history of the second generation of our reference cables. With the LS-1108, we would like to introduce the large brother of the LS-502 (Audio Kauf Tipp 11/2004), LS-602, LS-1002 (Stereoplay Highlight 03/2004) and LS-1102 (Audio P/L: very good; winner of the Stereoplay reader awards 2006)...

There are more and more HDMI sources, but not many HDMI inputs at the HD-ready television already purchased. in-akustik has solved this dilemma with a new HDMI switch of excellent quality. The "Excellence HDMI Switch-Box" can put four HDMI sources through a single output socket - alternatively via a pusher on the device or a small infrared remote control. This is by no means sorcery or a new technology, but in-akustik has obviously put a greater emphasis on important details than many other manufacturers...

There is an abundance of HDMI cables, but none of them are as flexible and thin as the new HDMI-Flat from in-akustik. The new cables are thinner than 2 mm, and are currently provided by in-akustik in lengths of 0.75 m to 7.5 m. Installation in skirting boards or under carpets is only possible due to the lean design. The 12 mm wide HDMI-Flats are ideal even in confined spaces in racks, since their bending radius is a great deal smaller than that of other cables. Less than 5 cm is required behind the rear of the device...

The Excellence YUV Mini is an extremely thin component cable of only 6 mm diameter, which makes it extremely easy to install. Best picture quality due to silver-coated conductors, exact impedance of 75 ohm and double shielding. Cut material and plugs are also separately available. Anyone who wishes to utilise the full capacity of their audio and video components should use HDMI cables which are fully compatible with 1080p. And what he presented exclusively worldwide when he visited the editorial staff of video is once again an extremely clever implementation...

The LS-1102 and Atmos Air from in-akustik impressed in the listening test. "For the price of Quarterline, in-akustik has the better cable: like the X4 of Audioquest, its two copper strands consist of relatively thick, concentric wires instead of the very thin, more or less chaotically felted fibres of common cables. The sound of the 309 had a touch of slenderness, but was also very clean, smooth and fine. A fantastic, inexpensive cable for lengths of up to 5 m."

The C-NF 80 makes an excellent visual impression. Its silver-coloured braided hose is only one of four shieldings which are intended to make the conductors insensitive to electronic radiation. Coaxial design is the motto, whereby the two individual wires form a single twisted strand about 5 cm behind the plugs...

NF 202: The unobtrusive, clean sound of this cable fared extremely well in the blind tests. Stiff, yet bends easily into any shape. Requires some space behind the device and (for the thick plug) also between the terminals...

The trend towards digitalization makes enjoying sound more difficult. Power wires are used as the "information highway" for the Internet. As a result, high frequency signals are superimposed on the 230 V mains current. Unfiltered, these signals end up as interference in source equipment and amplifiers - just as do numerous radio frequencies (from mobile phones, wireless LANs, GPS, etc.). We won’t even mention voltage fluctuations in the power grid...

In the so called "HD Ready Age" it is very important to be cognisant of the significance of HDTV-compatible cables and accessory parts. The "HD Ready" trademark exclusively targets plasma TVs, LCDs and beamers...

To start with: The prejudice that some high-end enthusiasts have that cables with boxes are nonsense, is also nonsense as long as cable designers keep their technological expertise to themselves. HMS and in-akustik are for a more serious approach. It is a matter of fact that the design of cables without small aids in small boxes can only be optimized up to a certain (physically defined) limit - then no more improvement is possible...

Normal electrical cables are not protected from interfering influences. They function like antennae and receive high frequencies (such as emitted by a mobile phone, cordless phone or wireless mouse).
