FireWire Cable
The live wire
|
Firewire is used predominantly in the field of digital video processing (DP) to transmit data from a camcorder (video camera) to a PC or to interlink other video hardware. The number of devices equipped with Firewire interfaces is increasing constantly. These interface - which are often referred to as i.Link - can usually be found between the AV receiver and DVD player. Firewire interfaces enable the transmission of digital data of up to 400 Mbit/s.

Fire Wire (IEEE 1394 or i-Link) cables are also used increasingly in the AV area. The reason for this is the increasing merging of AV components and computer applications. For example, camcorders are often connected directly to a DVD recorder or PC with a Fire Wire cable in order to reproduce digital content.
